iKono at AstriCon
Last October, iKono participated in AstriCon 2017 held in Orlando, Florida, where important professionals gathered not only from the team that constantly works to make Asterisk an increasingly versatile tool but also from companies and projects around the world that build innovative applications based on the Asterisk platform.
iKono had a successful participation, obtaining two awards, presenting a talk and achieving the dCAP (Digium Certified Asterisk Professional) certification from engineer Diana María Bedoya, thus completing two certified people in our work team.
The Talk
The talk given by our engineering manager, Jose Franco, was about existing technologies and how to implement text-to-speech and speech-to-text applied to a real-time interpreter that allows telephone conversations between two people who speak different languages.
The two awards were won for a demo presentation that put the theory from the talk into practice, allowing attendees to interact with the application and hold phone conversations in Spanish, English, Romanian, and Japanese, receiving real-time translation of what their interlocutor was saying. The awards were for audience favorite and best demo using cloud technologies.
The source code for the demo can be found on GitLab.
iKono is a constantly evolving company interested in always incorporating the best new developments in technology, telephony, voice over IP, networks and in general everything that improves the experience of our customers and we are happy to be able to share these achievements with everyone who makes up this great family.
