Technology, an ally in this pandemic
Nearly 50 days into mandatory quarantine in Colombia, people have had to comply with the measures issued by the National Government with the sole purpose of safeguarding the health of citizens and preventing a massive spread of Covid-19, which has significantly affected the global economy.
In the case of Colombia, nearly 22 million workers have been affected by this health emergency, which forced social isolation since March 24, causing the closure of companies in some economic sectors such as construction, the modification of service provision in the case of restaurants, and the implementation of teleworking in companies that allow this modality.

An example of this is the software industry, which, despite the critical situation, has not stopped operating and, on the contrary, has been a support in the development of different business activities, where more than 120,000 Colombians have benefited with high-quality jobs, generating sales of more than 16.5 trillion pesos; to which is added the technological acquisition by companies from countries such as the United States and Canada in e-commerce, cybersecurity, web and mobile development services, thus allowing commercial operation during this crisis caused by Covid-19.
Likewise, it should not be overlooked that information technologies have not only become an ally for businesses, but have also allowed families to maintain contact, thanks to applications of instant messaging and videoconferencing, thus demonstrating the positive impact on the economy and social relations from the industry of software and Information Technology Services.
