Marketing: From an option to a necessity
![]()
Today, marketing is linked to so many trends, current events, novelties and innovations; as a result, thousands of concepts and themes have emerged that encompass our entire social circle.
There are countless small, medium, and large companies that, in the course of daily life, driven by the need and desire to undertake something new, start or have started the great project of their lives.
Many have already gained experience, but others have countless doubts and don't know where to begin, just their idea in hand, and of course, what they need to get started. But if you look closely, the vast majority of large companies started this way, step by step, rung by rung, to reach where they are today.
As time goes by, science has also advanced, bringing with it countless concepts and terms that leave us feeling unfamiliar. It's inevitable that we ask ourselves questions like: What is that? What's it for? How can I use it? How can it benefit me? These are just some of the many questions that can arise when we encounter something new.
That's why today we'll talk about a topic you've undoubtedly heard before, and you may even know its meaning, but do you know how to put it into practice and how to apply it to your daily life or in your business?
This topic is Marketing. Yes, you heard right, Marketing, a word of just nine (9) letters that can change the course of your company in a matter of seconds or the blink of an eye, if applied correctly.
What is Marketing?
“Marketing encompasses all the strategies and options that help companies achieve their goals, increase sales, or improve brand perception.”.
But do you know how to implement a marketing strategy or how to reach the customer? Previously, there was a strong focus on the attributes and benefits of the product or service, but today, the most important aspect of any company, marketing plan, or sales structure is the customers or users. They are the reason why you are where you are, or rather, they are the reason why your company or business has the recognition it does. Everything is interconnected, and there must be a common thread between what is offered to the customer and the customer themselves.
But in light of the truth, consumers have grown tired of always hearing and talking about the same message, about what the product or service brings; they want to hear about something different, something that solves their problems, something that makes their lives easier.
And who doesn't like it when someone cares about them, when they're interested in their needs or what motivates them? When someone does that for us, they automatically gain our trust and make us want to be with them, talk to them, and spend time with them. The same is true for a company: when it does the same, it earns the customer's trust and interest, and it will ensure that the customer doesn't want to go anywhere else, because nowhere else will they be treated the way they are.
What comes next?
It is at that moment that the second step is taken, and where we begin to solve the client's problem, with the product or service that we offer, without neglecting its value.
Philip Kotler, who is considered the father of Marketing, explains that: “Marketing is both an administrative and a social process by which people obtain what they want and need through the generation of desire,
supply and exchange of products of value.”.
The above demonstrates that companies must never stop innovating; otherwise, they must adopt a new system. As Kotler says, "Companies have no choice: either they innovate or they become irrelevant to consumers.".
It's not just about thinking about advertising or creating commercials; planning and measurement are also essential. Keeping marketing efforts aligned with strategic planning will help companies make better decisions with a lower risk of error.
Final Note
Given the current state of marketing and business, which has shifted to the online realm, it's essential to understand that incorporating communication software tools is indispensable for improving customer relationships. This will allow you to expand your reach by leveraging various technological mechanisms that will boost sales and optimize costs.
